‘A Truly Innovative Service that Captures the Zeitgeist’ wins coveted title at World Communcations Awards.'

SpinVox, the founder and global leader of Voice-to-Screen™ messaging, was announced as the winner of the ‘Best New Service’ category at the World Communication Awards ceremony held in London last night.

The judges described SpinVox Blog as “truly innovative and capturing the Zeitgeist”. SpinVox fought off strong competition to win the global award sponsored by Microsoft, including entries from Orange Business Services, 3 and Colt Telecom.

SpinVox launched its voice-powered blogging service in February 2007 and soon after signed a deal with the largest independent blogging company, Six Apart, to provide the service to its 12 million LiveJournal customers. SpinVox Blog can also be used as a stand alone service with Vox, TypePad, Blogger, Windows MSN Live Spaces and Moblog.co.uk, just by creating a SpinVox Blog account on www.spinvox.com.

It can also be used with Movable Type and WordPress blog tools, with the aid of an email plug-in.

Once bloggers have their SpinVox account, they can generate content and share their experiences ‘in the moment’ just by using their voice. SpinVox converts the voice content to text and posts it directly to the chosen blog site.

SpinVox CEO and co-founder, Christina Domecq, said: “This ‘Best New Service Award’ is a terrific honour. It is recognition of our drive to innovate and lead the market in bridging the gap between wireless and the Internet. We’re anticipating customer and market needs with simple, but smart services that make communicating and sharing experiences easier and more enjoyable. SpinVox Blog essentially allows people to blog instantly, anywhere, without losing the immediacy and emotion that brings the content to life.”

Since launching its foundation Web 2.0 service - SpinVox Blog - SpinVox has continued to innovate with the October launch of ‘SpinVox Social Networking’ which enables voice-driven social networking from any mobile phone, allowing people to update their Facebook, Jaiku and Twitter account anywhere at any time simply by using their voice.

SpinVox is the only company in the world which converts voice into text in four languages – English, Spanish, French and German.

The World Communication Awards, which are organised by Total Telecom, took place at a gala dinner at the London Hilton, Park Lane. The awards recognise companies and individuals from across the world, who are making a major impact in the industry with their innovations and achievements. The World Communication Awards encourage entries from communications providers across the globe and this year nearly 200 entries were made in 12 categories.
