SpinVox, the world leader in Voice-to-ScreenTM
messaging, is the joint-winner of the ‘Innovation in Messaging Award’ for its Spin-my-BlogTM
service at the 2007 Global Messaging Awards.
SpinVox Spin-my-Blog allows people to post to a blog directly from any phone, anywhere -
powering online communities, social networking and citizen journalism through voice.
Christina Domecq, Spinvox co-founder and CEO, SpinVox, said: “This award is recognition that
innovation and quality is at the heart of everything we do at SpinVox.
“This is just the beginning for Spin-my-Blog. Voice-powered blogosphere is here and changing
the way people communicate. Bloggers are now freed from their PCs or having to find an
internet café and can now simply call and be the first to blog their review on the gig or movie
they’ve just seen or share their life experiences with their friends.
“SpinVox is extending participation in blogs to anyone with a phone. This is the simplest and
most natural way to create user-generated content – just by speaking your post from any
phone, any network, anywhere.”
Mike Grenville, 160 characters, the award organizer, said: “Spin-my-Blog is the innovation that
bloggers on the move really want – they’ll now be able to keep in touch with their networks far
more easily using SpinVox.”
SpinVox recently launched its blogging services with leading Blog provider Six Apart, which has
now enabled all 12 million of its LiveJournal bloggers to post directly from any phone.
This commercial deployment taps into the blogging phenomenon that has already generated
the creation of more than 81 million blogs, capturing at least 1.6 million postings every day.
As well as the deal with Six Apart, Spin-my-Blog was also used by one of the UK’s leading
commercial blog publishers, Shiny Media, at the 3GSM mobile conference in Barcelona so
correspondents could post about new products as they saw them. Not only were their reviews
the first to appear online, they were able to describe live events as they happened.
EMAP radio station Magic FM also recently launched a popular blog, enabling its listeners to
leave messages for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, and is now integrating the service as a
strategic audience participation tool. The service enables blog publishers to either keep its
posting number private, or publish the number and invite contributions from anyone with a
phone.
In 2006, Spinvox won the GSM Association’s Global ‘Mobile Innovation Award 2006, Red
Herring 100 Europe ‘Top Technology Innovators’ and Mobile Messaging Awards 2006 ‘Biggest
Impact on Mobile Messaging’.
Additionally, in 2005, SpinVox won the 'Best Innovative Service' category at the Mobile News
Awards, the Mobile Data Association award for ‘Most Promising New Mobile Data Application’
and was hailed as one of the 50 most exciting UK companies in mobile, in O2's 'Top 50 to
Watch in Mobile' list.
