London, UK and Santiago, Chile - MOVISTAR Chile and SpinVox today announced the launch of the first voice-to-text service in Latin America - available to all MOVISTAR Chile subscribers on contract.
SpinVox converts voice messages into text and delivers them directly to the recipient as an SMS on their mobile phone. Subscribers not only see the full message content, but also the caller ID, so they can see at a glance who left the message, and then call or text straight back.
SpinVox was created by co-founders Christina Domecq and Daniel Doulton. They launched the company in 2003 and SpinVox services are already available in Europe, North America, Australia and Africa. As well as converting voicemail messages to text for SMS or email delivery, SpinVox has also developed a range of other services – enabled by voice to text conversion, including posting blogs; speaking a text or dictating a memo which is delivered to an email inbox.
MOVISTAR Chile subscribers are being invited to sign-up for SpinVox via the MOVISTAR call centre or by visiting their retail outlets. The service will be available either as a monthly bundle of 10 or 20 voicemails, or as a message-by-message service.
Paola Figueroa, marketing director, MOVISTAR Chile, says: "Providing the best possible customer experience is a key objective of everything we do. That is highlighted today with the announcement of our partnership with SpinVox - which makes us the first in the marketplace to offer subscribers the very latest messaging service."
"SpinVox adds to the already wide range of value-added services that we make available to our customers and will be an integral part of the innovative portfolio of products that demonstrate our leadership in the industry", commented Figueroa.
Christina Domecq, SpinVox co-founder and CEO, SpinVox said: "We’re changing the way we all communicate, do business and keep in contact with our social networks: using one simple and efficient messaging tool - SpinVox".
"Now you no longer have to waste time retrieving messages and writing down the details, which you then can’t decipher, whilst on the run. And, from the callers’ point of view, they can leave a message, confident that it will be delivered directly to the recipient as a text."
Talking about the launch with MOVISTAR, Domecq classified this landmark deal as: "A key part of our global stratgy which today sees SpinVox as market leader on five continents, with more than 10 million users. Chile is an an incredible launch pad for our plan to expand right across Latin America."
As part of its plan to grow its presence in Latin America, SpinVox has appointed Nicolás Herrera as sales director - Latin America and Ricardo Dorado as general manager - Chile. "These appointments signal our commitment to developing the SpinVox business throughout the continent", commented Domecq.
Movistar is the leading mobile phone network in Chile, with 6.6 million subscribers, and has a reputation in the marketplace as a highly-innovative company. This was recognised in August 2007 by business analyst house Frost & Sullivan, which awarded Movistar first prize in the Product Line Leadership category in 2007 Latin America Mobile Content Services. Movistar was singled out as a leader in launching original and sophisticated products, content creation and positive customer relations.
Telefónica Latin America, parent company of Movistar Chile, also has a full range of mobile, landline and broadband services in: Argentina; Brazil; Colombia; Ecuador; El Salvador; the United States; Guatemala; Mexico; Nicaragua; Panama; Peru; Puerto Rico; Uruguay and Venezuela.
SpinVox is the only voice to text service in the world available in four languages - Spanish, English, French and German. SpinVox already provides Spanish voice-to-text services in the European marketplace and has tailored its Voice Message Conversion SystemTM (VMCS) to convert the Spanish spoken in Latin America and specific Chilean vocabulary. SpinVox plans to add Portuguese and Italian language capability to its portfolio in the coming months.
