SpinVox, the global leader in voice to content messaging, will launch its Open API (Application Programming Interface) suite at CTIA Wireless and VoiceCon Orlando 2009 events, enabling businesses of any size to benefit from its carrier-grade Voice Message Conversion System (VMCS). VMCS is the result of a $100m investment programme by SpinVox and five years in research and development, leading to large-scale live implementations with carriers worldwide over the past three years.
SpinVox Open API has two components: SpinVox Create which is now live and SpinVox Wholesale which will be rolled out in the first half of 2009.
"Having built the world’s best, live speech-to-text message conversion system and seen it operate under extreme pressure in live environments, we are excited to make the system available to companies and individuals who can take advantage of our investment to innovate and grow the entire speech marketplace. Speech 2.0 applications and services will be one of a cluster of innovations that are driving mass market transformation as people are increasingly enabled to re-discover the power of their voice," said Christina Domecq, CEO and co-founder, SpinVox.
SpinVox Open API offers access to commercial grade speech services without the need to invest in commercial speech engines which then have to be integrated, adapted and trained to meet specific uses, whilst managing constantly growing dictionaries.
SpinVox Wholesale
SpinVox Wholesale allows any size business access to speech to text conversions on a high-volume scale. Through this programme, SpinVox provides integration and on-going support, plus official SpinVox accreditation for partners. Charges are based on a metered event fee, with lower pricing for higher volumes. SpinVox Wholesale is provided through SMTP and HTTPS interfaces.
SpinVox Create
SpinVox Create is a response to an increasing demand from technology developers who recognise that a speech interface enables the most natural form of communication, want to build Speech 2.0 applications and are looking for best-in-class open products. SpinVox Create is provided through an HTTPS interface and is charged on a per event basis. The programme provides on-line support provided through a dedicated website, create.spinvox.com, which includes a forum to share ideas and views and the opportunity to showcase new applications. Standard APIs and Web-based support are provided with both SpinVox Wholesale and Create and neither programme has entry fees.
SpinVox VMCS
SpinVox Open API suite will leverage SpinVox Voice Message Conversion System (VMCS) to enable Speech 2.0 applications to be built and launched quickly. VMCS is the worl's largest commercial speech platform and is protected by more than 60 patents. SpinVox VMCS dictionary currently features over one billion word models (variants of words and phrases), plus core dictionaries in excess of 500,000 unique words. Its live-learning system constantly updates and grows the core dictionary to ensure that new words and phrases introduced to the language, e.g. 'credit crunch' or 'tweets', are incorporated in real-time to provide the most up-to-date language conversion system in the world. SpinVox operates as a cloud service and has 30 million users.
Demonstrates Speech 2.0 applications
SpinVox Create was announced at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona in February 2009 and developers were invited to pre-register their interest in SpinVox Create in advance of its launch via a web registration page - www.spinvox.com/developer. More than 100 developers have already registered interest in SpinVox Create and, of these, 20 have been selected by SpinVox to be part of the co-creation programme. Those selected include business efficiency, personal productivity, games and social networking applications.
At CTIA, the company will demonstrate three new Speech 2.0 applications based on Apple iPhone, Nokia Series 60, and Microsoft Windows Mobile platforms. The applications have been co-created in a little over a month to demonstrate the power of SpinVox Create.
`Travel Blog`, a Windows Mobile 6.0 Application developed by Singapore-based Global Idealogy Corporation lets you tag and post your photographs using just your voice . You can select photographs through the application, speak a message, attach the converted text to the photographs, post it on blog, social networking websites or send it as email or MMS.
`Speak-a-Text`, a Nokia Series 60 Application developed by UK-based Symbian Platinum Partner, Savage Minds, incorporates the ability to speak a text which is converted to text and placed into the menu structure of the phone software.
`Memo`, an iPhone Application, developed by UK-based SpinVox allows iPhone users to speak a memo through the iPhone application and which after conversion into text then resides on the iPhone for instant access when required.
