Vodafone Spain's customers will be the first to exclusively benefit from voice to text conversion through 'Dicta SMS'

Madrid - Vodafone Spain and SpinVox today announced the launch of their new Dicta SMS service across Vodafone Spain's customer base. The service, which will be exclusive to Vodafone in Spain, will allow its subscribers to have their voice messages converted into text, and will be offered in two ways: Dicta SMS Automatic and Dicta SMS 115.

Using the Dicta SMS Automatic service, a Vodafone Spain customer calling another Vodafone Spain customer who has no voicemail service, who has turned off voicemail or has no network coverage, will hear a free message offering to record their voice. Their voice message will then be converted to text by SpinVox and sent as an SMS to the person they are trying to reach. The service is available to all Vodafone Spain customers who do not have a voicemail service enabled.

Additionally, Vodafone Spain customers can now use the new Dicta SMS 115 service. To 'speak a text' subscribers simply need to dial the prefix 115 before the recipient’s regular mobile phone number. They will then be able to record a message which will be sent to the recipient, on any network, as an SMS.

"At Vodafone Spain we continue to search out and invest in the best services for our customers and break away from the competition by offering innovations that make communication easier between people," says Carlos Vecino, Head of Consumer Marketing, Vodafone Spain. "Dicta SMS fulfils these requirements, and is also a useful tool for people who are deaf or hard of hearing."

"SpinVox specialises in voice to text conversion, and thanks to this deal with Vodafone Spain the customer's voice will become their mobile keyboard," says Christina Domecq, co-founder and CEO of SpinVox. "We are convinced that Dicta SMS will be a success in Spain, the first country where the service will be available, and that we will continue to collaborate with Vodafone in the development of new applications."

"For the first time, subscribers can now 'speak a text' and ensure that they can get their message through straight away to the person they are trying to reach, rather than hanging-up," continues Domecq.

The price of using Dicta SMS will be the same as a standard voice call -connection charge plus the call duration – in line with each customer's price plan. The service is free for the recipient of the SMS message and will be available to both contract and 'pay as you go' customers.

Dicta SMS For Use in Business
As well as easing communication between individuals, Dicta SMS is also a valuable tool for business customers, who can now keep in constant touch with their customers much more easily and efficiently - even when they don't have or don’t choose to use voicemail. The service is now available for all sole traders, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large businesses that have the call-back service active.
